Corrosion Researcher with AI experience

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Corrosion Researcher with a reasonable background in AI-based modeling and materials degradation in sour environments. The selected candidate will play a central role in a cutting-edge research project that investigates preferential weldment corrosion (PWC) and pitting corrosion of carbon steel weldments in simulated sour and sweet conditions, both with and without corrosion inhibitors (CIs) and surface deposits.

The role will involve advanced corrosion testing, development of new corrosion inhibitor qualification protocols, real-time corrosion monitoring using Raman spectroscopy, and AI-driven data modeling and forecasting using CNN, RNN, and LSTM techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute corrosion experiments in simulated sour environments using welded carbon steel samples under hydrodynamic conditions.
  • Investigate the effects of welding-induced microstructural variations, deposit types, and preconditioning on corrosion behavior.
  • Analyze corrosion initiation and propagation in real-time using in-situ Raman spectroscopy.
  • Develop and validate mathematical and empirical models of corrosion behavior under various conditions.
  • Apply AI models (CNNs, RNNs, LSTM) to analyze spectroscopic data and predict corrosion rates and patterns.
  • Correlate visual (texture, color) and spectroscopic features with corrosion rates using machine learning techniques.
  • Assist in developing new protocols for corrosion inhibitor qualification in sweet and sour media.
  • Prepare technical reports, peer-reviewed publications, and present research findings at conferences.
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary researchers, graduate students, and external stakeholders.

Job Type: ContractContract length: 24 months

Pay: QAR9,000.00 - QAR13,000.00 per month
