House Manager
Roles and Responsibilities:
The house manager is responsible for the overall running of the house/villa in matters related to housekeeping, food and beverage, maintenance and people management. He/she ensures that the house functions smoothly for the overall comfort of the family and all of the staff within its premises.
Standards Setting & Household Procedures - Set service standards and housekeeping procedures for the home and ensuring that these are strictly complied with.
Staffing - Provide guidance and direction to all palace staff in coordination with Human Resources department. This may include involment in areas such as recruitment, orientation, training, mentoring, coaching, development, compensation, reviews and supervision, and accurate record keeping, on-going management of staff to meet service needs of household and administrative functions.
Vendor & Contract Negotiation and Management - Negotiate and manage all contracts, supervise work and review invoices for all outside service providers including screening and overseeing outside vendors, contractors.
Maintenance and Facility Management - Oversee the scheduling and repair for all maintenance issues within the palace.
Budget Preparation - Prepare a household budget including all expenses for daily needs, maintenance and other provisions.
Security & Safety - Oversee the overall safety and security of the house and its occupants by putting in place precautions and ensure its observance among all concerned.
Other Duties - Perform other tasks that may be assigned from time to time.
· Greet and liaise with guests and ensure their comfort
· Manage the household schedule and calendar
· Plan, organize and coordinate with various suppliers regarding events
· Arrange personal and professional appointments
· Handle household bills and other administrative duties
· Running errands and performing necessary tasks
· Document all house problems or incidents. Report safety issues in a timely manner.
· Serve as a point-of-contact for emergencies and urgent questions
· Investigate and attempt to resolve problems that arise in the house (e.g., employee or service recipient conflicts).
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Holder of a bachelors degree in hospitality management. A masters would be preferable
- At least 10 years relevant experience in the same capacity for a VIP household
- Strong management and leadership skills
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Flexible and able to adapt to a multicultural environment
