Planning Engineer

The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules, ensuring alignment with project milestones, and providing performance analysis for various structural steel works, oil & gas, and infrastructure projects. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize resource allocation, mitigate risks, and support the timely completion of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and MS Project.
  • Prepare tender schedules in coordination with resource and project requirements.
  • Track project progress, perform variance analysis, and generate weekly and monthly reports for senior management as per requirement.
  • Identify project critical paths, forecast potential delays, and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Implement risk management strategies and contingency plans.
  • Coordinate with project teams to optimize resource allocation across multiple projects / jobs.
  • Assist in preparing project dossiers, including progress reports, baseline schedules, and extension of time claims.
  • Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure schedule adherence and resolve project scheduling conflicts.
  • Provide input for cost control and project budget alignment.
  • Support project closeout processes by finalizing schedule updates and submitting necessary documentation.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil / Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project planning and scheduling.
  • Proficient in Primavera P6, MS Project, and Advanced Excel.
  • Strong understanding of resource optimization, risk management, and performance monitoring.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • MMUP UPDA Registered Engineer.
